Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a day for remembering and honoring military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. 

These 8 men and I all attended the same high school. Several of them attended the same time as me, and a couple of them were brothers, my neighbors, and childhood friends. 

It is strange to look at these images and think that they are gone. They were all brothers, sons, friends, lovers... Soldiers.

 In my mind they are still small children playing kick the can while waiting for the bus to take us to school. 

But that is what a Soldier is. Someone just like me and you. And these Soldiers have all died while doing their duty to our country.

 I am so grateful for all the men and women who have defended and sacrificed their lives for my rights and my freedom. 

I will be forever grateful for the service of these young men, and the many before them and those that have gone after them.

Drezden's New Dress

Gosh, it feels like forever since I have sewn something(It has been over 6 months!). Today I decided I wanted to sew something for Drezden and I came up with this. No pattern used(one reason why it is so big), and to be honest I don't really care for how it turned out... I need to sew more often! I am sure I would much happier with my projects if I did, but I do love the yellow eyelet fabric! I wanted to do a peasant style dress, but decided to try my hand at doing a zipper back which required a little more work with the top of the dress... Anyway, It will be a perfect around the house summer dress! Luckily little girls can get away with wearing almost anything and look cute. Here are some pictures of the finished result!

School's out for the Summer

Drezden graduated from preschool! That is right... Drezden will be going to big girl school this fall! Crazy to think I will have a kindergartner! We have loved having her attend Baby Stallion Preschool! She has learned so much! She is still pretty shy though. I am sure she will get over it starting this fall when she will be going to school daily and making more friends!

The kids love their swing set! Especially the swings! Emmett loves to ride on the swing while on his belly! He likes to twist the swing to get it to move back and forth, whipping himself side to side, and just giggles and has a grand time! Sullivan has finally learned how to pump his legs to get a swing going on his own! LOVE! It was so cute to watch Drezden sit on the swing next to him and show him the proper way of using his legs! At first Sullivan was just using his upper body. Cute Cute kids! Love them!

Summer is coming! We can't wait! We don't live a too exciting life... most of our summers are spent playing in the front and backyards, lots of movies during the hot afternoons, running through sprinklers, an occasional visit to grandmas house, 4th of July Parade, fireworks, some swimming, bounce houses, campouts in the backyard, play dates, visits to daddys work to have lunch on the grass, lots of ice cream cones, popsicles, and slurpies...

With the weather warming up we have been spending a lot more time outdoors! The kids love it! Drezden only has 4 more classes until Preschool Graduation!!! I signed her up for a pre kindergarten class that will run throughout the month of June. It will give us an idea of how kindergarten will be come fall! 

Anyway, here is a picture of Drezden! She really LOVES her scooter that she got for her birthday!

 Once the glass door opens Emmett is usually the first to run out the door(as fast as he can) and go right to work in the sandbox. I love this pic with his cute shadow... He loves to throw dirt everywhere!!!

Drezden is 5!

I can't believe 5 yrs ago today I became a mother for the first time. She arrived on her due date if you can believe that!!! On time... no sooner, no later! 

Drezden has been a wonderful blessing to me and my little family! I can't imagine life without her, her hugs, kisses, tantrums, her sweet little smile, those gorgeous blue eyes... 

Oh she drives me crazy... a lot, but by the end of every day when she tells Phil she loves him and wishes him sweet dreams melts my heart! I just love that this little girl loves her daddy so much! I love that she loves to share her toys and bed with her crazy brothers. 

Every birthday is bittersweet... I am sad she is getting older and it just means one year sooner to when she will be gone and have a family of her own, but I love watching her grow, asking me if she can paint her nails and try mommy's make up, spelling out words, recognizing letters and numbers... 

I love this little girl of mine and so glad she is!!! Heres to hoping 5 is a great year!

Before and After

There are quite a few photographers out here in Tooele, and one of them decided to put together a group on Facebook so we can share insights and give constructive criticism. Some of the photogs are just starting out, and some have been in the business for several years, and others like myself are mostly hobbyist photographers. 

Anyway, some of us got together and did a fun shoot in Grantsville. I just thought I would share a couple images of before and after processing. It was nice to get some time in and shoot for a bit!
